The conference inaugurates the establishment of Collegium Intermarium – an international university which aims to create a new academic space for integral human development based on classical values and direct cooperation between a student and a teacher.
It is our wish that the inauguration of the university will also provide an opportunity for an in-depth discussion on the future of higher education and the unique development opportunities that currently stand before the Intermarium area. The conference will bring together prominent academics, politicians and social leaders from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as from all over the world. Together they will discuss the place of classical values in today’s education and public debate and the way to promote economic integration and regional development of Central European countries.
We invite everyone interested in Collegium Intermarium and in the discussion on strengthening our region based on the values that unite us to participate in the conference.
About Collegium Intermarium
Collegium Intermarium is a university which was founded as a response to the crisis in academic life. Collegium is to be a space for scientists and students who are not afraid to ask serious questions. At a time when education is becoming mass, one-dimensional and imitative, we are reminding people that the goal of education is always integral human development. In the reality of the university, this development cannot occur without the direct cooperation between a teacher and a student.
What distinguishes Collegium is the fact that it unites the elites of the Intermarium countries, whose nations for decades were deprived of the possibility to create their own academic institutions. It is not only a space for talking about the common culture and diversity of our region’s traditions – but above all about scientific, social and economic cooperation today and in the future.
Our university is also a haven for all those who, in search of freedom and order, are not afraid to refer to the achievements of previous generations, including the foundations of our civilisation – Roman law, the Greek love of truth and the living legacy of Christianity.
